Bio

Chris graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in accounting and a Master of Accountancy. Prior to joining Sorenson, he served as the co-founder of the ecommerce startup Glass House Media. His company was focused on launching and scaling direct to consumer brands, one of which was Nello; a health and wellness brand. The tireless effort involved in building a company from its earliest stages ignited Chris’s passion for the startup ecosystem. He joined Sorenson as an investor that wanted to be hands-on in his investment approach, and was drawn to Sorenson’s high-conviction and thesis-based investment process. Given his background in entrepreneurship, Chris enjoys serving as a sounding board for companies and primarily relies on deep, data-driven analysis to guide his instincts, which he has found to be valuable in his work with portfolio companies.

“Success is continual improvement each day. It is a process, not just a “one-time” achievement. Although success is multidimensional, it demands single-minded dedication and complete commitment to a single pursuit.”

Chris seeks out founders with energy, passion, conviction, expertise, and a dash of humility. Building a company is tough, and the role of founder is not for the faint of heart. He gets excited to meet individuals with an unmatched energy to solve a specific problem, and those who will be resilient enough to weather the storms that inevitably come when starting a company. One exemplary such case occurred with portfolio company Moov. Moov–the first company to make instant payments a reality– excited Chris because of the team’s conviction and will to make things happen. The founders of Moov, like all the best founders, are relentlessly dedicated to a visionary future and are unafraid of the 800-pound gorillas, which in Moov’s case is rebuilding the archaic foundation of payment infrastructure from the ground up. Moov is forever changing the world we live and work in.

“Success is usually a team effort. If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

Chris encourages honest founders with great gut instincts and who don’t second guess themselves (but are honest enough to know where they have blind spots) to reach out.
